  Art and Technology

Under the creative influence of Art and Technology Director Rebecca Schwarz, Club members use a variety of mediums to express themselves, including:

  • Digital Arts: (take a look at some of their work!)
Members use the newly renovated digital media lab and recording studio to explore graphic design, audio and visual editing and recording, and web design.

  • Photography:
Using both film and digital cameras, members learn and use the various camera functions, take and critique photographs, and digitally edit pictures using state of the art software. Each Spring members can submit photos to the Boys & Girls Club of America's ImageMakers photography contest. Check out some of the 2007 entries in our gallery.

  • Theater Arts:
This Fall, members had the opportunity to work with the Very Merry Theater staff on a production of "Mary Poppins" with a performance on December 7th. Check back for info on our Spring production.

  • Dance:
Each week members learn new moves in this hip-hop dance program.

  • Music:
Members have the opportunity to study a number of instruments with our volunteer instructors, including guitar, piano and drum lessons with more coming soon. Members also use the new recording studio at 62 Oak Street to record and edit songs.

  • Fine Arts :
Using our two art studios, members explore drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, fiber arts, mixed media and sculpture.

  • Invention Challenges:
Each week members get the chance to pit their creative and critical thinking skills against one another in challenges that range from building to best boomerang to the strongest popsicle stick tower.

  • Cyber-Cafe':
Members get the chance to check email (grades 6-12 only), play games and hang out with friends in this relaxed area of the 62 Oak Street Clubhouse. Snacks are also available for sale from the snack bar run by our MoneyMatters program.
